When technologies disrupt industries, the initial reaction is usually fear. I get it. As humans we are sometimes reluctant to change, creatures of habit, etc. etc. I’ve seen it firsthand in retail:
“What if AI exposes pricing?”
“What if shoppers are more loyal to the tool than to the retailer?”
“What if our competitors gain an advantage?”
All fair questions. But here’s the better question:
What if AI finally gives retailers and brands the ability to serve the modern shopper exactly how they want to shop?
Because that is what’s happening.
Consumers want:
✔ Confidence they’re getting a fair price
✔ Personalized choices
✔ Transparency
✔ Savings without the scavenger hunt
AI delivers all of that. And the retailers and brands who embrace it early will set the standard for everyone else. Embrace this new change in shopper behavior and become part of the process and solution.
AI is not going anywhere, and it's going to bring price transparency to the finger tips of shoppers. Do you have a “strategy” for this or is your strategy “fear” based ...or “wait and see”? If it's the latter, ask Blockbuster, JC Penney, RadioShack, GameStop, Sears and so many other retailers who failed to follow consumer shifts in shopping.
